Project Description
Shrine of Growth
cast glass, etched glass, cast bronze, fabricated steel, low-fire terra cotta
10x2x1.5 in / 25.4×4.75×3.8 cm
With this piece I wanted to encapsulate a thought, a moment, an idea or memory within an object, things felt and not seen. I created this piece to contain some of my thoughts and experiences on birth, growth, and expansion from my journey of discovery and self-expression.
I etched excerpts from my journal on the glass to create a sense of intimacy and connection. The cast bronze flower is a symbol of growth and my path unfolding. I chose to use a shrine as a metaphorical way of creating an environment for an intangible element.
